How Did This Whole Calorie Restriction Thing Start For You ?

I was always interested in health. Always. The last big milestone I crossed was being able to adjust to a low calorie restrictive diet, but this didn’t came from nowhere out of a periodic caprice. I found out about that ‘Methuselah foundation’ back in the middle of 2011. Calorie restrictors are a sub-community who experiments with what has been proven to be the only practical way today to extend life by the dozens of years.

The idea is that the more calories you get inside your system – the more free radicals your body produces. This is simply biology. The less free radicals you have – the less your cells age. Long term experiments have been done with rats and other types of mammals, and the results were mind blowing.

In the middle of last year, I thought I’m gonna try that myself and see how it goes. After all, who would not want to live more?

How Did That Restriction Go, and How Restrictive Was It ?

We are talking about around 1200 calories a day, in case you wondered. The thing is that we are trying to achieve a maximal nutritional profile with this amount, in contrary to the average Western diet which focuses on many calories, around 3000, while still having caloric deficits because these foods are so empty. Industry and processed foods are taking their toll on millions of Westerns every day, and this is what calorie restriction aims to fix.

My body adapted pretty quickly for the low amounts, although it took me around a month or two to gradually lower the amount to the point where I am now. I had some problems falling asleep as well, which fixed once I adopted the whole diet concept. I believe I will continue with it for some time and update how well it goes. Meanwhile, I highly recommend it for everyone. It feels refreshing like a cold water in the desert.
